About these numbers
Typical costs come from 2026 hotel, restaurant and transport prices researched for our money guide. They are averages: Paris in June or the Riviera in August can cost far more, and the countryside in November far less. Hotel rates are for one room shared by two people; the calculator adds a room for every two travelers. Tourist tax is charged per person per night and is added on top.
Not included: travel insurance, car rental and fuel, shopping, big-ticket experiences such as a Michelin dinner or a private guide, and airport transfers. See driving in France for rental and toll costs.
Save money
The biggest savings come from timing (April–May and late September–October), lunch menus instead of dinner, booking fast trains early, and a credit card with no foreign transaction fees.
